My Charli Kate

Charlotte is the perfect child. She is content and easily pacifiable. She is an observer, always taking in her surroundings and her brother's actions. She is strong and independent. She LOVES her Daddy and has the essential bond that every father/daughter must have. I cannot get enough of her sweet skin and soft cuddly nature. And as any perfect baby, she has many faces... that very clearly inform me of how she is feeling. Check out my sweet Charli...

"Happy" Child. She has the perfect towel:sand:sun ratio and all is right with the world.
This face is always accompanied by her right foot stomping the ground. We call it her "fake" cry.

Her "sleepy" face is always accompanied by thumb sucking.
This is her "wet" face. She doesn't love to be in the water unless the temperature is perfect. She knows what she wants and I love that about her. Not coincidentally, this is also the face she makes if her diaper is wet.
This is the "Blue Steel" face we see most often on Charli Kate. She is taking everything in... waiting to make her move. She is so smart.
This one is a household favorite. She is completely "annoyed" at everything happening around her. We are clearly beneath her. Can't you see it?! She cracks me up!!
My perfect daughter :)

4 Is Our Lucky Number... This Year, Anyway.

Honeymoon in Jamaica, June 2006
We celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary on Thursday. It was a much-needed low key evening as we have been "going-going-going" for the past month. We visited over a romantic dinner about fond wedding memories and special honeymoon moments. We discussed possible plans and trips to take during the next year and hopes that we have for our children. With every element of our life like a fine wine that becomes better with age... Another wonderful year, adding to many special moments with you.
All my love, all my life.

"Caden is 2"

On Caden's birthday we went out for a special breakfast at Cracker Barrel. That evening we were able to have dinner with some of our family at Cheddar's. He had such a great birthday but was super excited to host his Birthday Sprinkler Party. For weeks Cade ran around saying "It's a celebration," "Sprinkle Party," and sang "Happy Birthday to Caden." We had some much needed help getting ready for the big day... Thank you Cousins Nicole, Lauren, Jael, Aunt Sasa, Auntie Jen, G'ma and Mimi!
Daddy and Charli Kate in the baby pool!
The kiddos loved splashing around in the pool and sprinkler!
Blowing out the candle on the fish cake!
Thank you, Ashley for making these yummy fish cookies for the party! They were a big hit.
For favors we sewed fishies on towels and stuffed them with goodies!
There was a malay of tissue paper and toddlers while we opened the many fun gifts for our sweet boy. The kids had fun playing with the toys and so did Ryan and I!
As my friend Beki said, "Lots good food and friends, what more could you ask for?" We had so much fun with EVERYONE! We appreciate each of you and the special relationships we share. Can't wait to get together again, soon!

Oh, Silly Cousins!

WA Surprise!

A couple weekends ago we were able to meet up with Ryan's Aunt Lisa. Thanks for spending some much needed family time during your busy visit Aunt Lisa!

Last Sunday we received a very special surprise from WA State... Ryan's Cousin Nicole flew in for a few days to spend time with us. We had a blast hanging out! She is such a special person and the kids are so lucky to have bonded with her during her visit. We miss you "Cousin Cold!"

Nicole and Caden were being silly while we got ready for his birthday dinner. See the reinactment of Tom Cruise's Risky Business scene below...
Can you believe our little boy is a little man?!

My Sweet Hubby

Ryan had surgery after we returned from vacation. He had recently reinjured an old fracture. Unfortunatly, his surgery involved splints, stitches, magnets (you really don't want to know), and a lot of blood. He got his cast and stitches off yesterday and is on the road to recovery! He is still sore but is such a sweet patient... We love, love our Daddy-Bear!

Beach VACA!

We love going to the beach during the summer! Last week we went to Port Royal in Port Aransas on Mustang Island. It is such a fun place to visit with kiddos. There are several pools at the resort that spill into each other with big slides. Caden loved running from the condo to the beach via boardwalk. We were so impressed that he would run the whole way!
Granddaddy and Uncky James met us down south for a bit of the fun. Cade loved walking the beach!
Charli Kate and Mommy were being silly on the balcony while Cade and Daddy took a much need nap!
We celebrated Uncky James' 20 birthday by sampling a bit of the local cuisine. (Blah!!!)
"Dory, are you in there?"

Old MacDonald Had a Farm!

A few weeks ago, some of the Phillips' and some of the Thompson's went to Galveston to check out housing options for Aunt Sasa's nursing program. She has been accepted to the accelerated program at UTMB-Gal. Whoop! While we were down south, Ryan and Cade had a boys trip to Old MacDonald's Farm.
Caden will tell you that he is "scared of horseys" but here he is riding one???
He loved playing on the playground and petting the animals in the petting zoo! E-eye-E-eye-OH!
